Youth and Sport: Expectations, Challenges and Prospects: The Case of Trinidad and Tobago Anand Rampersad BSc.;MSc University of the West Indies St. Augustine This paper will critically assess the expectations, challenges and potential of sport as a social instrument in addressing some of the issues confronting youth development in Trinidad and Tobago. It suggests that a paradigm shift is required to assess the usefulness of sport through a number of processess. Some of these processes include a critical assessment of the sociological aspects of sport as an intricate social process as well as understanding the agency of youth with their own internal issues and dynamics. Furthermore, the youth has to have a greater say in the decision making process.
